Turbulent velocity and gas concentration measurements in the near-surface layer

摘要

An experiment was undertaken to study the mechanism of interfacial mass transfer. Near-surface liquid turbulence and oxygen concentration fluctuations have been measured in a grid-stirred tank. The results of interfacial concentration measurements show that the thickness of concentration boundary layer at the water surface can be related to the turbulent Reynolds number in the bulk region of water. Simultaneous measurements of turbulent velocity and oxygen concentration also indicate that the large scale eddy motions are dominant in the interfacial mass transfer process.
