In high-temperature, weakly collisional plasmas, electron Doppler effects strongly modify the structure of the m = 1 internal kink mode, causing the growth rate γ to depend very weakly on the plasma resistivity η: γ∼η1/7. The electron temperature gradient can also drive the m = 1 mode.
