摘要

As the incineration of Municipal Solid Wastes (MSW) has been becoming a major trend for managing solid waste in Taiwan, it is essential to realize that the incinerator might be a chemically active material. It is believed that a great amount of the ashes, containing leachable metals and salts, would be classified as hazardous. Therefore, further treatment of the ashes is required before the final disposal in the landfill. The results indicate that four of the melting additives except the silica powder are found to be effective in decreasing the fluid temperature. The test results of the toxicity characteristics leaching procedure for all resultant slags are found in compliance with the regulatory requirements.
