In this paper, the stability evaluation of a broadband multi-stage low noise amplifier (LNA) is presented using nonlinear analysis. The demonstrated LNA consists of three common-source stages with resistance-capacitance feedback, and it is implemented in 0.15-μm GaAs pHEMT process. The linear inter-stage stability analysis and the nonlinear stability analysis are employed to predict the occurrence of low-frequency and microwave oscillations. The simulated results are demonstrated to eliminate instabilities in the broadband multi-stage LNA, especially for the low-and high-frequency bands. Moreover, the LNA features a measured 3-dB bandwidth from 4 to 16 GHz, a maximum small-signal gain of 28 dB, a minimum noise figure of 2 dB. The measured output 1-dB compression point is higher than-3 dBm. The demonstrated method for stability is suitable for the microwave linear and nonlinear circuits.
