title = "Preliminary study of the feasible maintenance in Taiwan freeway",
abstract = "This study evaluates the optimum thickness layer for maintenance and rehabilitation (M&R) in Taiwan Freeway based on LCCAby taking a case study of Guanxi Section as a part ofTaiwan freeway No. 3. This study created three types of alternative include one fixed friction layer thickness, two rehabitation thickness and 7 years as a cycle time with the total design period of 35-year. Indicators for each alternative are the total cost based on the deterministic analysis by RealCost software and International Roughness Index(IRI). The analysis results shows the 5 cm of DGAC had the lowest life-cycle costs. The agency cost for M&R with 5 cm of DGAC layer was about 37% less expensive than the other alternatives and the IRI value is about 2 m/km that indicate a good performance for the pavement. 5 cm of DGAC layer with 7 years of life-cycle time is the best feasible solution and worthy to be adopted in Taiwan freeway, especially in Guanxi Section.",
