Passive piezoelectric absorbers on suppressing vibration of a rotating beam

摘要

For eliminating Vibration of a rotating beam due to external forces, dynamic absorbers are attached to the beam. The beam, rotating about its longitudinal axis, is modeled by using Rayleigh beam theory. Piezoelectric material shunted with a resistor and an inductor has similar functions to a mechanical vibration absorber. The equations of motion of the composite system, including the rotating beam and the attached piezoelectric material, are obtained by Hamilton's principle. The equations are further discretized by using Galerkin's method. Generalized coordinates of the vibrating beam and the currents of the absorber circuits are solved. Then, the forced responses of the beam subject to harmonic external excitations are obtained. The numerical results show that the properly designed absorbers are effective for reducing the vibration of the rotating beam especially at resonant frequencies. Discussions are focused on the design of the absorbers for a better vibration-reduction effect.
