摘要

Let τ₁ = 1, τ₂, τ₃, . . . be recurrently defined by The sequence {τ_n} appeared in a heat conduction problem studied by Myshkis (J. Differ. Equations Appl. 3, 1997, 89-91). He proposed as an open problem the asymptotic expression for τ_n. It is shown in this paper that τ_n, is increasing and lim_n τ_n/n = π²/2.
