摘要
This paper discusses the possibility of using the concept of phononic crystal on a quartz oscillator for increasing the Q factor, enhancing the designated mode, and diminishing unwanted modes. Phononic crystal is a type of metamaterial with small holes arranged in a repeated pattern for scattering elastic waves. The numerical data on the dynamic features of the quartz oscillator with phononic holes were generated by using the finite element software, COMSOL. Discussions include the effects of increasing Q and rejecting unwanted modes. In addition, some trends between phononic crystal arrangement and device performance are presented.
