N2 - In this paper, several measurement instruments, including thermal fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor, strain gauge, non-contact displacement measurement technique, and GPS, have been applied to the case when a titling train Puyouma moved through the Tai'an Viaduct in Taiwan. Using measured information, consisting of vibrations on train, rail, and bridge, strain, deformation, and vertical and horizontal wheel-track contact forces, could verify the performance and safety on the rails and bridge at different train speeds. The computed values on rail internal force, rail frame strength, superstructure stiffness, and derailment index were also used to calibrate the parameters used in an as-developed 3-D finite element simulation model. In future, this train-track-bridge interaction simulation model can effectively evaluate the safety and performance on a railway bridge.
