摘要

Hong Kong, an ex-colony imbued with British and Chinese influences, is the vortex of competing discourses that juxtaposes culture with politics, language and identity. With few or nearly nonexistent ʼnatural’, ‘authentic’ or ‘historical’ identity discourses, this mega-city evinces a hybridized permeability, contesting and consolidating the terms and territories of all hovering influences, yet pledging exclusive loyalty to none. The problematic of Hong Kong theatre relates to (de)colonization and contributes, through the prioritization of Cantonese performance, to the complexity of the ongoing identity debate in the territory.
