摘要
The initialization of unstable coupled ocean-atmosphere data assimilation systems by breeding ensembles was analyzed. the use of some nonlinear models, including the Zebiak-Cane model and coupled Lorenz model, for isolating the slow coupled instabilities by breeding process. The results show that breeding with long rescaling intervals can be used to capture the slowly evolving ENSO component of a coupled model. The long interval for rescaling the ocean-atmosphere perturbations allows atmospheric noise to saturate.
