title = "Formal model of participator dependent multimedia presentations",
abstract = "Data flow diagrams and control flow diagrams were used for decades in software development. The advantage of the diagrammatic technique is in its enabling of a stepwise refinement technique allowing the user to focus on a part of the program, which is then refined toward a complete software. In multimedia presentation design, presentation designers may use a similar concept. In this paper, we propose a system that allows the presentation designers to design their multimedia presentations using data flow/control flow diagrams. We also use a revised Petri net, with a number of newly introduced components, to allow the designers to control the event based synchronization of presentation objects. Formal modeling and semantics of a multimedia presentation are described. Algorithms for implementing our system are also discussed.",
