摘要

The characteristics of low Reynolds number flow of two circular cylinders in tandem arrangement has been studied by solving the Navier-Stokes equations in terms of stream-function and vorticity. The flow field is treated as a multiply-connected region and a vorticity constraint condition is derived to calculate the wall stream function for each cylinder. Flow solutions are obtained to show several flow features of the cross flow over the tandem cylinders (i.e., wake interference, fluctuations of lift and drag forces and vortex shedding), with two diameter ratio (0.33 and 1) and for longitudinal spacing L/D =1.5 ~ 4.0. Computed drag coefficients and Strouhal number are compared with experimental data and numerical results. Agreement as well as discrepancy of the comparisons is discussed.
