摘要

This work, based on the actual field system design and implementation, will provide an example of combining advanced early and reliable smoke detection technology with fire modeling to provide optimal protection of a renowned heritage building in Taiwan, the Shi-Lin Presidential Residence. This work adopts computer models created from CFD based fire modeling software, FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator), and Air Sampling Smoke Detection System (ASD) smoke transport (through pipe network) model ASPIRE2®, for quantifying fire detection performance. The fruition of this field implementation provides valuable insights for future drafters of building/fire codes in order to devise a set of modern regulation specifically purported for protecting heritage buildings.
