Enhanced production of antigen (CEA) and human antibody by mammalian cells cultured on various polymeric films

摘要

The growth and production of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) were studied for human colorectal adenocarcinoma tumor (CW2) cells cultured with caffeine, ethylene glycol, and thymidine, as well as on PMLG, PBLG, silk fibroin, and collagen films. CW2 cells produced CEA by a factor of more than 5-fold by addition of caffeine to the cell culture media after 13 days of cultivation. CW2 cells did not enhance the production of CEA by the addition of thymidine into the cell culture media. The CW2 cells produced CEA efficiently when the cells were cultured on the films where the serum proteins adsorbed with native secondary conformation.
