摘要

A new methodology is developed for thinning fringes of caustics in the binary pattern, and a new saving-deletion rule is utilized to extract the fringe skeletons from the original pattern. The method is applicable to any orientation of the fringe. The various steps of the algorithm were used in processing a test image in the PC-base digital image processing system. According this method, we can analyze the fringes of caustics and successfully improve the testing of fractures by using three steps: firstly, the image of the caustic in the fracture mechanism is recorded using a video camera; secondly, the images and their process are obtained by a new thinning algorithm; and finally, the fringe data is obtained from the computer. Particular attention is given to the study of the violent variations of the crack tips in the fracture. Two types of caustics (reflection and transmission) are also discussed and applied in our system.
