This paper proposed an IOT-based erosion monitoring architecture. The proposed soil erosion monitoring architecture is based on deployed smart sticks. The smart sticks make up a wireless sensor network (WSN) that are deployed on a slope to perform specific tasks such as sensing, data processing, and acknowledgment. The hardware design and software operation was introduced in this study. The experimental results show that the wireless signal transmission of the system is stable and the packet leakage rate is low. The experimental results also prove that the system can instantly detect the amount of erosion change of soil. This study also verified that the TOF sensor of the smart stick is quite accurate and has reasonably high linearity.
