N2 - A penta-band coplanar waveguide (CPW)-fed slot dipole antenna with two comb-like metal sheets is proposed in this letter. Each operation band is controlled by a respective resonant path, and this results in high design freedom. The pentaband antenna operates at 1.88 (f1 ), 2.34 (f2 ), 2.70 (f3 ), 3.08 (f4 ), and 3.60 GHz (f5 ). The 6-dB fractional bandwidths are 17.68%, 8.66%, 5.59%, 11.61%, and 5.27%, respectively. The proposed antenna achieves a nearly omnidirectional radiationH-plane pattern, and the antenna peak gain is from 5.37 to 6.46 dBi. Although this letter describes a general design idea, it should be noted that the operation band frequencies could be easily tuned for commercial wireless communication systems, such as PCS, WLAN, WiMAX, and LTE.
