摘要

It has been argued that BIM-related studies should concentrate more on the issues pertaining to the operation and maintenance (O&M) phases of a building due to its life cycle costs. Currently more and more O&M applications emerge and BIM can serve as an important information source for them. The existence of these O&M applications leads to the problem of their interoperability with BIM. In this research, a meta-meta model, meta-model, and model of a building and the transformation mechanism were designed for O&M applications to easily use and operate its BIM. Based on the model-driven architecture (MDA), the proposed approach can extend the BIM usage to the O&M phases so that consistent information can be always maintained, as well as provide a customized, O&M-related BIM in order for their application developers to fulfil domain-specific functionality and achieve maximal reusability.
