title = "An adaptive multiple reference frame motion estimation for H.264 video coding",
abstract = "Previously, an effective algorithm has been proposed to improve the multiple reference frame motion estimation in H.264, based upon correlation among successive frames and neighboring blocks. To improve coding efficiency, in this paper, we extend the previous work and propose an adaptive mechanism which uses motion characteristic to modify our previous work. The experimental results reveal that the proposed algorithm achieves a significant reduction in computation compared to the multiple reference frame full search algorithm, while maintaining a good coding performance.",
