摘要

A suitable biointerface for sensing technologies should offer critical characteristics, such as accommodation of biorecognition elements, maintenance of their activity, resistance against nonspecific interactions, and easy implementation. The materials and methods for the surface engineering in the context of developing functional biointerfaces are strongly related to the basal materials of sensors to allow nanoscale detection of biomolecules and other substances associated with human health and environmental protection. In this chapter, we have highlighted the current developments in various designs of biointerfaces for highly sensitive and specific detections on biosensors. Two important interfacial properties, that is, fouling resistance and functionalization, will be particularly reviewed and discussed with the aim of advancing the sensing technologies for the implementation of the Internet of Things.
