abstract = "In this paper, a design of hybrid beamforming along with resource allocation is proposed for a multi-user (MU) massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) LEO satellite communication system. The objective is to minimize the total system transmission power in the uplink while satisfying some constraints such as ensuring a certain quality-of-service (QoS), bit/block error rates, and data rates for each user using SNR switching levels of modulation and coding. A user selection method is proposed, prioritizing users with better channel conditions, based on the singular value decomposition in each subchannel. A selected sample method is proposed for hybrid beamforming design to reduce complexity compared with our previous proposed idea. Simulation results show that both the proposed hybrid beamforming design and the user selection method can achieve very competitive performance than the existing idea.",
