Abstract

The ketene complex [Cp(CO)2W]2(µ-CH2CO)(µ-CO) (Cp = η5-C5H5), prepared directly from the reaction of Cp(CO)3W with CH2I2, is transformed at −5°C to a dinuclear σ-acetylene complex, Cp(CO)3WC≡CW(CO)3Cp, the structure of which has been confirmed by a single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis.
