The paper uses a dynamic energy-economy simulation model to quantify the effects of environmental regulations on the electricity sector in Taiwan. The author demonstrates that by waiving pollution control investments, the real output of the electricity sector would increase and the price of electricity would decrease. The effect of waiving the pollution control investments in the electricity sector would be greatest in the electricity, gas, and water sectors.
