Synthesis and characterization of new ferrocenylamine sulfide and selenide complexes

Abstract

Some hitherto unknown ferrocenylamine sulfides and selenides, (η5-C5H4-SR)Fe(η5-C5H3-1-CH2NMe2- 2-SR) (R = Et, n-Pr, i-Pr, n-Bu, t-Bu, i-Pent),(R,S)(η5- C5H5)Fe(η5-C5H3-1-CH(Me)NMe2-2-SeR) (R = Ph, 4-Cl-Ph), (R,S)(η5-C5H4-SR)Fe(η5-C5H3-1-CH(Me)- NMe2-2-SR) (R = Et, n-Pr, i-Pr, n-Bu, s-Bu, t-Bu, i-Pent), (R,S)(η5-C5H4-SeMe)Fe(η5-C5H3-1-CH(Me)- NMe2-2-SeMe), (S,R)(η5-C5H4-SR)Fe(η5-C5H3-1- CH(Me)NMe2-2-SR) (R = Et, n-Pr, i-Pr, n-Bu, s-Bu, t-Bu, i-Pent) and (S,R)(η5-C5H4-SeMe)Fe(η5-C5H3-1- CH(Me)NMe2-2-SeMe) have been synthesized via the lithiation of proper ferrocene precursors, followed by treatment with appropriate disulfides and diselenides. These compounds, which are air stable, have been characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, IR, MS and elemental analysis.
