Structures of metallic clusters: Mono- and polyvalent metals

The ground-state structures of metallic clusters Na, K, Rb, Cs, and Pb in the size range 3≤n≤56 were studied. The analytical Gupta-type many-body potential was applied to account for the many-body interactions between atoms. Both the genetic algorithm technique and the basin hopping method were used to locate the global energy minima of clusters. Overall, significant results were obtained.
