Statistical eye diagram prediction for a 8b10b-coded channel using pulse response

Abstract

A method for fast and accurate prediction of statistical eye diagram in an 8bl0b-coded high speed digital channel is proposed. Based on the recursive algorithm proposed in [1], we modify the equal-1-0-probability assumption and make it suitable for an 8bl0b-coded channel. Simulation of a 30cm-long high speed channel is conducted to verify the effectiveness of this algorithm. The results not only show the validity of this method, but also provide insight into an 8bl0b-coded system.
