Abstract
The acceleration of relativistic (≤10 MeV) electrons in the extensive region of the Earth's outer magnetosphere stretched along the nightside magnetopause has been quantitatively analyzed based on the quasilinear kinetic theory of statistical Alfvén acceleration. The acceleration conditions and rate, as well as the electron energy spectrum, have been studied.
