Static structure factor of a suspension of charge-stabilized colloids: Application to liquid-glass transition phase diagram and to micellar solution

Abstract

The static partial structure factors derived by the mean spherical approximation were used in modeling a charge-stabilized colloidal suspension. The liquid-glass transition phase diagrams were determined for 5- and 91-nm colloidal dispersions. The usefulness of Belloni's one-component model is demonstrated by the interpretation of the structure factor of a micellar solution and the estimation of the charges of polystyrene spheres.
