Abstract

In this study, the derivation of semivariance function from a given database is first performed. After the semivariance function is determined, Krigging technique is employed with the semivariance function to simulate the distribution of SPT-N values in the construction site. The values of true data points and the estimated values were compared by Simple Krigging technique. Analysis results have shown that from Simple Krigging, the simulation can yield good results for the SPT-N values that are less than 30 blows. Finally, the simulation of SPT-N values across the whole construction site was also conducted to examine the distribution of SPT-N values. Spatial variability analysis with Krigging technique provided a means to estimate the required value and the contour map could be employed for further cost analysis regarding soil improvement methods or selections of foundation types.
