Abstract

This paper describes a polygon-based procedure for generating texture information from digital photographs and mapping them onto 3D building models in a cyber city implementation. The developed texture generation and transformation procedure can produce seamless texture mosaics and transform generated texture information of regular and nonplanar shaped building facades onto model surfaces correctly. Test results demonstrate that the developed method can create near photo-realistic texture appearances for complex three-dimensional building models. The algorithms are light-weighted and of high computational efficiency, therefore are suitable for cyber city applications.
