Abstract

The formation of the self-organized oscillation of a strongly coupled dust Coulomb cluster was examined in an ionized rectangular plasma trap. The low-frequency limit-cycle oscillation of the cluster associated with the intracluster compressional lattice wave and the phase-locked oscillation of the glow intensity distribution was observed. The phase-locked oscillation of the plasma sheath width was found to result from the interplay between the clusters and the background plasma.
