Robust stabilization of uncertain systems with time-varying delay using variable-structure control

Abstract

The problem of stabilizing an uncertain system with time-varying delay by means of variable structure control is considered. By designing a special sliding mode and a memoryless switching control, the controlled system is not only stable but also robust. Moreover, because of this special sliding mode, we can arbitrary assign the individual eigenvalues of the time-delay system. The effectiveness of this control method is illustrated by a numerical example.
