Abstract

We demonstrate an all-optical Flash Memory that is a new all-optical binary operation component structure accompanied two-dimensional (2D) photonic crystals (PhCs). Different from conventional waveguide methods, the Photonic Crystals structure is employed to realize the NOR logic function. It takes advantages of the device sizes are drastically reduced to a scale of a few tens of micrometers and the easy-to-implement logic function. The polymeric structure based on photonic crystals will lead to the electromagnetic-wave phase shift between the three input, resulting in electromagnetic-wave may be constructive and destructive interference procured the NOR gate logic function, the future will be able to further applied to the NOR-Flash. On the other hand, the multi-input components in optical-integrated circuits not only can improve throughput and reduce loss, but also a great hope for cloud technology that the large and complex binary operations.
