Abstract

The CDMA system promisingly provides more capacity than AMPS. However, providing multi-channels for CDMA system is a requisite to satisfy the demand of capacity. In this paper, two schemes of multi-channel assignment are proposed. Based on the formulation of intra-cell interference and inter-cell interference, the capacity can be determined. Markov chain approach is adopted to model the intra-cell interference and inter-cell interference for the proposed channel assignment schemes. By solving state probabilities, performance measures, e.g. blocking probabilities, the overall capacity and the capacity of each channel are obtained. Analytical results indicate that SIR-based selection scheme is preferable to the other.
