Abstract

In order to eliminate the double images caused from thick windshield, we used optical thin film technology to design a beam splitter applied for head-up display (HUD). In our research, light source we used is p- polarized light because of its contrast is better than s-polarization. This beam splitter can reflect multicolor and improve the influence of ghost images. Reflectance of p polarization is 22.6% and the total reflecting contrast of the first surface to the second surface is 9, while the total transmittance of beam splitter is above 70%.
