Abstract
The energy release rate G for 2-D rubbery material problems with curved cracks is calculated with finite element solutions in this paper. Two approaches, a generalized domain integral method and the virtual crack extension method, are investigated. The generalized domain integral method is demonstrated to be "patch independent" and therefore a complicated finite element mesh adjacent to the crack tip area is not required.
