Abstract

In this paper, we present an analysis of the spatial smothing schemes extended for the esiimation of two-dimensional directions of arrival of cohereni signals using a uniform rectangular array. The scheme extended from the plain spatial smoothing technique is shown requiring ai least (2K - 1) specifically chosen square subarrays, each with sire (K + 1) x (K + 1) at least, in order io guarantee the”decorrelation” of K coherent signals in all possible situations. The the minimum size of the total array is shown to be 2 K x 2K.
