Abstract

Based on the signal power estimation (SPE), a tone grouping (TG) approach is proposed to on-line calculate the subchannel step-size for FEQ of DMT systems. It is a reliable method that the SNR loss caused by the misadjustment of LMS algorithm is limited to less than 0.25-dB per tone. Consequently, an SPE-TG look-up table (LUT), which consists of 15 groups from 26 to 2-8, is designed for DMT ADSL systems (as a vehicle). Finally, the simulation results show that the data rate difference between floating step-size and SPE-TG is less than ±0.21%.
