Abstract

An online recognition method for handprinted Chinese characters written on a tablet is described that is based on the syntactic-semantic approach. A handwritten Chinese character is represented by a string of structural radicals for recognition. The semantic check is applied to solve any ambiguity if necessary. A good recognition score has been obtained for a set of 420 registered characters.
