Abstract

In this paper, a new noncoherent sequence detection algorithm for trellis coded unitary space-time modulation (TC-USTM) in the quasistatic flat fading channel is proposed. The proposed detection is performed by using the Viterbi algorithm without the knowledge of fading coefficients. The Viterbi decoder uses a sliding window for the observations where each observation covers several branches of the trellis. We search for good trellis coded unitary space-time modulations which are suitable for the proposed detection algorithm. Simulation results indicate that the proposed detection performs well for both-the quasistatic and slow continuous fading channels.
