Abstract
This study attempt to develop an ash melting process with lower temperature, and to evaluate the effects of five melting additives on lowering the melting fluid temperature. In this experiments, five melting additives were employed including sodium borate, soda ash, limestone, cullet and silica powder. The results show that four melting additives except silica powder are effective in decreasing the fluid temperature. The effectiveness of these melting additives in decreasing order are: sodium borate, soda ash, limestone, and cullet. The test results of the toxicity characteristic leaching procedure for all resultant slags are found in compliance with the regulatory requirements. The good relationship between the ash component and fluid temperature is obtained by multi-linear regression analysis. The regression formula can be utilized to predict the fluid temperature in terms of the given chemical components of the ash.
