Abstract

Many processes such as spherical crystallization, microemulsions, and organic nanocrystal fabrication require combinations of several solvents. A solution's composition ratio at the time of nucleation greatly influences the solubility, polymorphism, and crystal habits of crystals of active pharmaceutical ingredients. The literature, however, provides little advice for identifying the best solvent combinations. The authors describe the importance of a rapid and an abbreviated screening strategy in initial solvent screening.
