Abstract

Field emission devices with different focusing structures are simulated. The results show that the coaxial-Type structure gives the best focusing effect but with lowest anode current. The ridge-Type structure could give the largest anode current but its focusing effect is poor. The coplanar-Type structure, in addition to its good focusing effect, has a moderate anode current and the simplest fabrication process. It is concluded that the coplanar-Type focusing structure is the best choice for display application.
