Fast-rewritable plastic LCD with photo-alignment technique

Abstract

This work presents a photo-rewritable transmissive flexible liquid crystal display (PTF-LCD) based on the laser-induced adsorption alignment of azo dyes on flexible P C/IZO substrates. The image can be dispalyed without applying an external field and rewritten by changing the direction of the writing laser beam with the temperature controlled. By using the IZO/PC substrates, the writing and erasing process can be achieved within 1 min with a high contrast.
