Abstract

A passivated emitter and rear cell (PERC) combined with a selective emitter (SE) structure has been fabricated using screen-printable polymer pastes as wet chemical etch masks. This research work is devoted to the development of organic paste compositions and wet-etch recipes with which the local rear contact and SE patterns could be obtained in one single etch process step. As for the cell performance, improvements in efficiency of approximately 2.074% were obtained with the inclusion of the SE structure in a PERC cell compared to conventional full Al-BSF cells.
