Abstract

The evolution of microstructure of AlSI 304 stainless steel joint was studied. The joint was brazed by mechanically alloyed nickel base filler with different silicon content. The microstructures were examined by X ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. It was found that when Si content reaches 8.5 wt% and the brazing temperature was increased to 1091 °C, greater interdiffusion occurred between the base metal and the brazing joint.
