Enhanced guided-to-radiation mode conversion in electrooptic annealed proton-exchanged PPLN waveguides

Abstract

We report a TM-guided to TE-radiation mode converter in electro-optic (EO) annealed proton-exchanged, 23.6-μm-period PPLN waveguides at 1550-nm band. Over 80%/cm modeconversion efficiency was obtained with this device at 28oC with ~8 V/μm EO field.
