Abstract
Electrostatic noise generated by electrostatic cyclotron instability is analyzed and simulated in slab geometry with the dc space charge effect neglected. The noise is found to be characterized by a broad spectrum, low saturation levels, and a strong disturbing effect on the electron energy distribution.
