Abstract
A novel dual quarter-wavelength (λ/4) hairpin microstrip resonator is proposed, which is composed of two λ /4 stepped-impedance resonators (SIR's) that are coupled through a shorted stub section. In this study, the dual resonator structure is utilized to design a bandpass filter for which the filter order may be doubled and the via number required in the conventional λ/4 filter may be reduced to half. Specifically, a four-pole quasielliptic microstrip filter is realized with two pairs of transmission zeros created around the passband edges so that the filter selectivity may be improved.
